Dakota "Cody" McCoy
Neubauer Family Assistant Professor

Luella Allen-Waller
Chicago Fellow
Luella Allen-Waller is a Chicago Fellow postdoctoral researcher in the McCoy Lab co-advised by Dr. Cathy Pfister. She studies the influence of dinoflagellate endosymbionts on the cnidarian surface microbiome, with a focus on how climate change alters this relationship.

George Jarvis
Postdoctoral Researcher
George Jarvis is a postdoctoral scholar in the McCoy Lab. He is interested in the evolution of life-history strategies across the tree of life, particularly patterns in body size, reproduction, and energy use.

Ann Marie Hulver
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Ann Marie Hulver is a Research Fellow in the Climate Systems Engineering Institute at University of Chicago. She is studying the effects of Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement on coral reefs and temperate rocky reef ecosystems.

Daniela Pierro
PhD Candidate
Daniela Pierro is a PhD candidate studying host-microbe interactions across multiple scales–from the molecular to ecological level. She is interested in how these relationships impact the adaptive potential of marine invertebrates, including coral and anemones, in the context of anthropogenic climate change.

Ethan Rothschild
PhD Student
Ethan Rothschild is a second year PhD student at the University of Chicago and is interested in investigating the evolution of symbioses in reef-dwelling organisms through experimental evolution.

Tanner Lee
PhD Student
Tanner Lee is a second year PhD student at the University of Chicago and is interested in the mechanisms that govern chloroplast longevity in solar-powered sea slugs.

Cynthia Wang
PhD Student
Cynthia Wang is a second year PhD student in Biophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago. A computer scientist by training, Cynthia is interested in using computational methods to understand evolution in marine biological systems.

Gabriela “Gabby” Mansilla
PhD Student
Gabriela “Gabby” Mansilla is a first year PhD student. She has a background in molecular science, and is interested in evolutionary conflict in coral-algal symbiosis within the context of coral bleaching to help influence restoration efforts.

Loretha Jack
PhD Student
Loretha Jack is a first year PhD student. She is fascinated by host-symbiont interactions in reef-dwelling animals, especially marine sponges.

Jenna Kotler
Research Scientist
Jennifer “Jenna” Kotler is a Consulting Research Scientist with an interest in all things genetic conflict, parent-offspring conflict, and pregnancy. She has a multi-disciplinary background with experience in evolutionary theory, genetics, psychology, and clinical research.
Yuling “Lynn” Gu
Undergraduate Researcher
Yuling “Lynn” Gu is a third-year chemical biology student at Berkeley and she is involved in the project on hormone-receptor coevolution in pregnancy. She is interested in how proteins evolve to have very specific biochemical properties.

Isabella Alnemri
Undergraduate Researcher
Isabella Alnemri is a rising second-year in the College majoring in Molecular Engineering. She is interested understanding and exploring new solutions to increase the resilience of the natural world to the effects of climate change.
Yorik Chuang
Undergraduate Researcher
Yorik Chuang is a second-year student in the College. He is interested in applying data science to study coral and climate change in hopes of furthering public policy and international law.
